Cuba

Forbidding...Forbidden

As a bill ending travel restrictions on U.S. citizens visiting Cuba wends its way through Congress, it's likely that this forbidden Caribbean isle maybe the next great destination for U.S. cruising sailors.

Wally Moran is a Canadian citizen sailing a Canadian-flagged vessel. TSC DOES NOT recommend that U.S.-flagged vessels voyage to Cuba until the U.S. government has formally lifted current restrictions.

Wally MoranWally Moran, a Canadian sailing writer and professional charter skipper, has cruised to Cuba and speaks about his experiences at boat shows and sailing seminars. Read his article, Cuba: The Next Cruising Ground? in the Sail Magazine. Wally also writes for Waterway Guides and is an expert on cruising the ICW. In this special video for TheSailingChannel, Wally gives us an expanded version of his Cuba presentation.

"Varadero and Santa Marta were my first taste of large, urban civilization since I'd arrived in Cuba. There are good restaurants, pubs, artists' markets, a sense of history, friendly people eager to meet you..."

CubaHamas Route

Wally opens by describing his "CubaHamas" route that takes you from Florida, across to the Bahamas, and down to Cuba on easy day sails. He goes on to cover ...
